Much has happened in Mississippi since Katrina. The state was devastated by the storm, and the government’s fumbling relief efforts continued to rub salt in a gaping wound. Continuing Programs and Aid
- Mississippi Alternative Housing Program: This program continues to provide Mississippi Cottages to eligible Katrina victims.
- Mississippi Neighborhood Home Program: Katrina victims who still have unrepaired damage to their home may receive grants in order to make the necessary repairs.
- Elevation Grant: For coastal residents of Mississippi, having an elevated home can mean the difference between the structure surviving the storm or not. These grants provide money to coastal residents in order to modify their home to meet FEMA elevation requirements.
- Long Term Workforce Housing: These grants provide money to nonprofit, for-profit, and local government agencies to build affordable rental units and homes in areas that suffered severe damage from Katrina.
